Meet the Band

Carol Smithers

Carol started singing with her dad in her childhood singing old jazz songs and then started joining various bands from 1981. In 1984 she met and teamed up with Ian and they formed a duo called 'Two's Company', after which they joined 'Contrast' a function band for eight years.

Carol and Ian are now members of 'The Funky Amigos'. Her main influences include Joan Armatrading, Arethea Franklin, Genesis, Michael McDonald to name but a few.

Ian Smithers

Ian started playing drums at the age of nine and was gigging with his dad at twelve. He then got bitten by the guitar bug and has been playing ever since.

He is currently a teacher with the Berkshire Young Musicians Trust. His influences include, John Williams, Mark Knopfler, Miles Davies, Pink Floyd and his dad Peter Smithers.

Steve Huntridge

Steve started playing the acoustic guitar some two years ago, under the tutelage of Ian and plays for pleasure only.

Musical influences are quite eclectic and include The Beatles, James Taylor, Paul Carrack, Alicia Keys through to Destiny's Child.
